Jackson Ballet Company in Ravel's "Bolero", choreographed by Thalia Mara.
This "Bolero" was performed all over the state of Mississippi in collaboration with live performance of the Jackson Symphony. It was filmed and broadcast by Mississippi ETV in April, 1981. On January 29, 1982, this ”Bolero” was broadcast nationwide by PBS.
Arthur Mahoney (Thalia's dance partner and husband) performed in the 1928 Premier of "Bolero" at the Paris Opera, choreographed by Nijinska (Arthur's teacher and sister of the famous Nijinsky.) Ida Rubenstein commissioned Ravel to write this ballet for her; she performed the lead with her Co. for the Paris Premier. |
